The Crooked Sort
Issue #6
Welcome to the newest issue of The Crooked Sort! This is [normally] a summary of my activities throughout the preceding week(s). And some recommendations from my personal reading.
This week, I have only recommendations to offer, don’t let your drafts stay drafts!
Samara
Discussed the etymology of God’s adversary. This is written fantastically, with humor to keep you engaged and zero excuses or apologies. My own special interest of deep religious history as compared with historical evidence and pre-historic notions fed on this heavily. Can’t recommend enough, this is the content I’m on here for.
Walt Shuler
Has just posted the most recent addition to his Ashes of Rome series. My history obsessed followers will get a kick out of this, because Walt does heavy research to not only ensure historical accuracy, but to drop titillating tidbits to entice history nerds. (it works)
Andy Edge
A horror story I was not expecting and deliciously delivered. Instead of leaning on heavy gore, we get expert escalation through subtext, until its too late for you to get away! Told in near third perspective so we get treats through idioms and thought-hopping. It’s a short story sure to make you smile, a rarity for any horror tale.
Hylia Corvidae
We don’t get enough summoning rituals around here. I love this take on nature being anthropomorphized instead of just a ‘vanilla’ demonic encounter. You also won’t guess the ending, so the journey through the storm is exciting the whole way through.
MA Knight
Sometimes, I don’t want to warn people. This is fun queer fiction, with supernatural seasoning.
Seajade
A serious injection of real life and the dirty work of progress. This opened my eyes to labor I didn’t even realize existed, in Seajade’s unique and honestly therapeutic voice.
Thanks for catching up with me! I hope you enjoyed your week. I look forward to the next in this wonderful community which proves every day that it is worth investing in.
